Where the Class of 2025 is headed:

Scholars Supporting Scholars
through the College Transition

The recent high school graduates are gaining a head start on preparing for their fall campus arrival through the Mission Scholars College Transition Workshop Series, featuring two First-Generation College Student Panels. Just a few years ago, these panelists were in the exact same seats—navigating uncertainty and preparing for college. Now, they are sharing their gained expertise with the next wave of college students, creating a space where students can ask questions, share concerns, and learn from those who have walked in their shoes.

Breakout sessions led by Mission Scholars college students covered topics such as time management, budgeting, college life, and missing home, helping students feel more confident and prepared as they embark on their college journeys.

We are grateful for our continued partnership with the UCSB Promise Scholars, whose dynamic first-gen panel and networking session provided invaluable insights and encouragement to the rising college students.

“A lot of people talk about the disadvantages of being a first-generation college student, but what I want to show you are the advantages. It’s in our blood to be hard workers, and that will help you in college and in life.”

– Edwin, UCSB Promise Scholar First-Generation Panelist

You play a vital role in the Mission Scholars community, making these successes possible through volunteering, engaging in career conversations with students over coffee, sharing inspiring student stories with friends, and advocating for internships at local companies—each effort expanding our impact.

Thank you for helping us achieve our mission and grow our reach.
