Program Manager
Position Summary
Mission Scholars is seeking a strategic and enthusiastic Program Manager to lead and strengthen our college and career preparation program. This full-time role focuses on people management, program quality, and strategic coordination.
The Program Manager supervises Program Coordinators and works closely with senior leadership to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery of college success and career development services. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys coaching staff, building systems, and improving programs that directly impact student success and outcomes.
A major focus of this role is leading the expansion of Mission Scholars’ college-to-career programming through the launch of the NextGen Leaders Initiative, ensuring Scholars graduate prepared to secure meaningful, sustainable careers.
Schedule & Location
- Full-time, exempt
- Hybrid: minimum 2 days per week in-office in Santa Barbara (with flexibility)
Key Priorities
- Team Leadership & Program Quality
- Supervise, coach, and support Program Coordinators and volunteers to ensure strong, consistent Scholar support.
- Set clear expectations, workflows, and priorities for the College Success team.
- Lead onboarding and training for new program staff.
- Support staff in facilitating workshops and presentations; provide guidance and feedback on public speaking and facilitation.
- Program Coordination & Strategy
- Oversee the annual College Success Program calendar, including workshops, key milestones, and student touchpoints.
- Partner with senior leadership to refine program goals, systems, and student support models.
- Program Expansion Leadership
- Launch and implement the NextGen Leaders Initiative to expand college-to-career support through scaled mentorship, career coaching, and leadership development.
- Coordinate one-on-one career coaching and mentorship, lead professional development workshops, and support internship exploration and placement.
- Cultivate employer partnerships, strengthen systems to track Scholar outcomes, and engage alumni in mentorship.
- Data, Evaluation, & Reporting Management
- Oversee systems for tracking Scholar participation, progress, and outcomes.
- Prepare clear, actionable reports for senior leadership to inform continuous improvement.
- Student and Community Partnership Oversight
- Supervise and coach program staff as they deliver individualized guidance to help Scholars navigate internship and career exploration, and the transition from college to the workforce.
- Foster strong relationships with companies, corporate sponsors, and community partners to enhance Scholar engagement and career success.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree
- At least three years of leadership and management experience (preferred in youth-serving nonprofits)
- Demonstrated experience supervising or mentoring staff
- Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Commitment to college access and success for first-generation, low-income, and underrepresented students
- Proficiency with Google Workspace tools
