Sponsorship Opportunities

“This type of investment transcends generations. My grandma does not know how to read or write, my parents went up to 5th grade in Mexico, and now I’m a college graduate who is pursuing graduate school. My degree is not only mine, it is my family’s too.”

— Estefania Contreras, UC Berkeley’18

In 2019, we selected ten Scholars for our pilot program, and it was a remarkable success. So far, our Scholars have earned a combined $2 million dollars in merit-aid scholarships to four-year colleges throughout the country, including: USC, Notre Dame, LMU, Cal Poly SLO, and UC Berkeley.

Additionally, we are proud to announce that one of our students has been named a Gates Scholar by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

2020 will be an even bigger year for Mission Scholars. In early March we welcomed 17 students from the Class of 2021 to our program—talented juniors who are determined to reach their goal of attending a top college in 2021. Later this year, we hope to welcome 20 additional Scholars from the Class of 2022.

Our Scholars are bright, motivated, and determined to succeed. Many of them will be the first in their families to attend college.

Sponsoring a Scholar

The cost to sponsor a Scholar through the entire program is $7,500. This includes all workshops, college visits, individual meetings, college application and essay assistance, college transition preparation, and financial aid and scholarship assistance.

We are grateful for any investment you can make, and we have various donation levels available.

Estefania Contreras is one of our early success stories. She was referred to us by a former teacher at San Marcos High School who recognized that she showed tremendous promise but who knew that Estefania had no idea how to proceed with the college admissions process, and no resources to hire professional assistance.

Kim and Cassie recognized Estefania’s potential as well. Working on a pro bono basis, Kim helped her prepare for her SAT tests while Cassie helped her through the process of choosing the right schools, writing her essays, and completing her applications.

Estefania ended up with acceptances from many top schools. She chose to attend UC Berkeley, where she went on to graduate with honors from the Haas School of Business in 2018. She is currently working in finance in Washington DC and planning to apply to business school.

There are more students in our community like Estefania, and it is for them that we founded Mission Scholars.
